DMIA Wins Awards
DMIA won five awards in the 17th annual Apex awards competition sponsored by Communications Concepts, a publisher and consulting firm based in Springfield, Va. There were 4,942 entries in 109 categories of writing and design.

  • Roxanne Rash, art director of Print Solutions Magazine, won a Grand Award in the Design & Illustration category for her 2-page spread, "The Kerry Connection," in the Nov. '04 issue of Print Solutions Magazine.

  • Print Solutions Magazine received an Award of Excellence in the Most Improved Magazines and Journals Category.

  • The Print Solutions Magazine web site received an Award of Excellence in the Web & Intranet Sites category. The site was desinged by Christine Sachs, DMIA's New Media Specialist.

  • The E-Weekly received an Award of Excellence in the Web & Electronic Newsletter category. This is the fourth award for this publication, which is edited by Preeti Vasishtha, assistant editor of Print Solutions Magazine.

  • Darin Painter, managing editor of Print Solutions Magazine, won an Award of Excellence in the Personality Profiles category for his feature on DMIA President Jeff Long, "Long on Ambition," in the in the Sept. '04 issue.

The DMIA staff won several awards in the APEX 2004 competition for publication excellence. The APEX awards are sponsored by Communications Concepts, a publishing and consulting firm based in Springfield, Va. There were nearly 5,500 entries in 109 categories of print and online communications. Awards of Excellence were presented to the following:

  • Print University, DMIA's web-based education and training offering, was cited in the Education/Training Video/Electronic Publications category. The web site is designed by Pam Decker and edited by Lloyd Tucker and Harriet Carter, CDC.

  • The Business Printing Technologies Report, DMIA's monthly email newsletter about technical issues in printing, was cited in the Web Publications category. The BPTR is designed by Jennie Doran and edited by Dennis McGarry, CDC.

  • The E-Weekly was cited in the E-Mail Newsletter category. The E-weekly is designed by Christine Kenny and edited by Preeti Vasishtha with contributions from Darin Painter and Andy Brown.

  • Darin Painter, managing editor of Print Solutions Magazine, was cited in the Personality Profile category for his profile of DMIA President Phil Schmidt, which appeared in the September 2003 issue.
