Distributor Now Selling to State of Florida
IMR, Feb. 23, 1998
In the Aug. 25, 1997, IMR, we reported on distributor Bill Parsons, secretary/ treasurer of Anchor Business Forms Inc. in Tallahassee, Fla. Parsons had tried unsuccessfully to sell to the state of Florida, which had denied him business because he was a distributor. After reading the article, several distributors called Parsons and suggested that he become a manufacturer's rep. Several years earlier, a state official had made the same recommendation to Parsons.
Anchor then contacted an independent manufacturer, who agreed to become an official vendor with the state. The manufacturer filled out necessary forms detailing its production equipment. Anchor is the firm's representative to the state and is listed as such on the official paperwork. Bid requests are sent to Anchor, and Anchor is responsible for contacting various state agencies to explain the manufacturer's capabilities. Billing is handled through the manufacturer, which sends Anchor a check once the state pays. Or, it credits Anchor's account accordingly.
