How This Ticket Is Used
- This three-part production ticket is used by a manufacturer of industrial metal tubing.
- When a customer places an order, the information is keyed into the computer system and printed out on the form.
- Orders can consist of only a few items, or a customer might request dozens of different tubing products. Either way, it is essential that the order be accurately filled, and the bar code helps make that possible.
- A ticket is produced for each product that is to be shipped.
- As the order is filled, the bar code is scanned. The bar code itself identifies a particular skid, and the third part of the form is attached to the skid containing the product.
- By having the bar code on the form, several advantages are achieved: First, it is possible to see exactly how much of a current order has been completed. Second, the bar code makes it much easier to keep an accurate inventory of in-stock products. And third, the bar code reduces errors, thereby increasing efficiency and improving service to customers.
