Mergers and Acquisitions in 1990

Editors' Note:The following is a partial list of mergers and acquisitions that occurred this year. "(D)" denotes a distributorship. All others are manufacturing firms unless otherwise noted.

The Ace-Sunrise plant in Fort Worth, Texas, was purchased by Paris Business Forms, Burlington, N.J., from the bankrupt Sturgis-Newport chain, which owned the plant.

Austin Graphic, Watseka, Ill., sold its laboratory mount sheet product line to Hospital Forms & Systems Corp., Dallas.

Bedinghaus Business Forms was sold to Southam, a Canadian communications conglomerate. The acquisition was announced in late 1989, but was not finalized until mid-1990.

Castle Multiforms, Shreveport, La., was purchased by an investment group from Ft. Worth, Texas, headed by John E. Lott.

Coated Papers Inc., a producer of carbon paper for the forms industry, was sold to Frye Copysystems, Elgin, Ill.

The senior management group of CST Office Products Incorporated, headed by President Thomas McSweeney, working with the Thomas H. Lee Company of Boston, purchased the firm from Bradford Venture Capital.

Digital Design Technologies, a Dallas service bureau specializing in bar codes, was sold to Ward/Kraft Forms and Labels, Fort Scott, Kan. The firm will be known as W/K Imaging Systems and will provide service work to Ward/Kraft plants.

Elbe-Cesco, Fall River, Mass., has sold its pegboard and narcotic control set product lines to Hospital Forms & Systems Corp., Dallas.

Formost Systems Inc. (D), Hicksville, N.Y., was purchased by Seaboard Systems Inc. (D), Great Neck, N.Y.

Foster Business Forms Company, Columbus, Ohio, acquired the assets of a local commercial printing company, now known as Foster Commercial Press.

Paper Converters Inc., Farmington, Conn., was acquired by Superior Business Forms, Greeneville, Tenn.

S. Pomerantz Business Forms Co. Inc. (D), Glenside, Pa., merged with General Business Systems (D), Huntingdon Valley, Pa. S. Pomerantz continues to operate as S. Pomerantz Business Forms Co.

Precision Business Forms Inc. (D), Little Rock, Ark., sold some of its assets to Bank and Business Forms (D), Little Rock, Ark. Bank and Business Forms also hired some of Precision's employees. Precision is no longer in business.

The assets, trade name and clientele of Printer Service (D), Springfield, Va., were acquired by Metro Business Forms Inc. (D), Gaithersburg, Md.

Professional Business Forms, San Antonio, Texas, was acquired by Vallis/Wngroff, Cherryvale, Kan. Vallis/Wngroff reopened Professional, which entered Chapter 11 in 1989.

Vivid Impressions Printing Company (D), Milwaukee, was acquired by Data Management Corp. (D), Butler, Wis.
