Integrated Form is the Best Vitamin
For several years, Suncoast Marketing Inc. provided a nutrition company with packing slips that include integrated labels. Bob Scala, president of the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based distributorship, was pleased when the customer recently requested an integrated product that included a label and a membership card. The biggest challenge? Suncoast Marketing had less than three weeks to deliver 35,000 forms.
Valmeyer, Ill.-based manufacturer MAR Graphics produced the 81/2 x 11-inch form, which included an integrated label on the bottom and an affixed 71/2-millimeter vinyl card on the top. Although the nutrition company has retail stores, most of its business is through mail orders. The forms were meant for first-time members. Non-variable information, such as the company logo and contact information, was preprinted on the front of the form along with a disclaimer on the back. The nutrition company prints variable information in house using laser printers. Each integrated label is printed with the new member's name and address. The vinyl cards are printed with the person's name and membership start date. The card is useful when members call the nutrition company to place an order, Scala says.
Brian Coats, sales representative at MAR Graphics, says the project's turnaround time was a challenge because the complex form required several different materials and four pieces of equipment to make. The affixed plastic card required special laminate, commonly called piggyback material. When the end user peels off the card, approximately 1 millimeter of laminate is left behind on the carrier. "MAR Graphics came through with flying colors," Scala says.
Coats says the forms have processed well through the nutrition company's laser printers. If the membership campaign proves successful, the company plans to order 100,000 more forms.
