Wilma's Destructiveness Surprises Florida After being
surprised by the damage caused by Hurricane Wilma, Floridians stood in long
lines for ice, water and gasoline Wednesday as millions remained without power
two days after the storm struck.
"I never expected it to be this bad," said Randy Eubanks, partner at
distributorship <http://www.suncoastmarketing.com>
Suncoast Marketing Inc., Fort Lauderdale, Fla. "No one expected it to be this
bad. In my 23 years in Florida, this is the worst storm ever. Hurricane Andrew
was a stronger storm, but it affected only a small area."
Eubanks said there was no damage at Suncoast Marketing offices, where power
was back, phones were working, and internet services were spotty. But there were
problems at his house, where a tree fell on the roof and another one in the
pool. "There's no power and no phones," he said. "It may be three to four weeks
before we get power." Eubanks said he waited in a line that was almost a mile to
get water and ice, and waited in another 2- to 3-mile long line at the gas
station. "Gas is a real crisis," he said. "It's been quite an experience. It's
an absolute mess down here." Eubanks said he was unable to get in touch
with many employees.
Wilma struck Florida Monday with 125 mph winds, storm surge flooding and
heavy rain. At least 10 deaths in the United States have been blamed on the
storm. Repair crews were scrambling Wednesday to restore electricity to 2.5
million customers without power, a CNN report said.

reported third quarter net income of $37 million compared to $58 million in the

Financial Services segment is still being challenged by a number of issues, and
as expected, produced unfavorable comparisons to last year. Within our Small
Business Services segment, however, we continue to make progress with the
integration of New England Business Service (NEBS), which we acquired last
year." <http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/051027/cgth023.html?.v=31>Full

SOLUTION OF THE WEEK
An Eye-Opening Presentation
<http://www.copacinc.com> When
CIBA Vision, a company that develops and manufactures contact lenses and other
optical and ophthalmic products, prepared the product launch of its O2OPTIX™
line of contact lenses, it needed a promotional folder as innovative as the
thin, aerated contact lenses themselves.
Atlanta-based CIBA Vision's business requires heavy outlay in research and
development so successful new product launches are critical for the company (a
part of the Novartis pharmaceutical empire) to ensure return on investments.
Spartanburg, S.C.-based <http://www.copacinc.com> Copac Inc. had
long targeted CIBA as a potential client. After working successfully with CIBA
Vision on a smaller project, the custom packaging and printing firm won the
chance to develop and produce the promotional folders for the O2OPTIX™ product
launch in early 2004. <http://www.dmia.org/sol_center/enewsletter/enews_articles/sow102805.html>
