Malone to Join Cenveo as CEO <http://www.cenveo.com> Cenveo™ Inc.,
Englewood, Colo., announced that James R. Malone, founding and managing partner
of <http://www.qorval.com/index.htm>
Qorval LLC, Naples, Fla., has been named CEO of the company, effective June
27.
"Jim has a proven track record of helping companies grow and prosper," said
Susan Rheney, chairman of Cenveo , in a press release. "As we continue the
process of evaluating our strategic alternatives and strive to be more flexible
and efficient and to provide even greater levels of service to our customers and
value to our shareholders, Jim's leadership will be invaluable."
Malone also will work closely with financial and legal advisors as the
company evaluates its strategic alternatives to maximize shareholder value, as
it first announced on April 18. The company said that it has already received
"expressions of interest from a number of parties and is actively reviewing
them."
Additionally, Cenveo announced that in response to a request by certain
shareholders, it has set Sept. 14 as the date of the special meeting of
shareholders. The company will soon announce the record date for determining
shareholders entitled to vote at the special meeting, and the time and location
of the meeting.
On June 10, Cenveo confirmed that it received a letter from <http://www.burtonmg.com/default.htm>
Burton Capital Management LLC, Goodwood Inc., calling for a special meeting of
Cenveo's shareholders. In May, Cenveo rejected a proposal from Burton Capital
Management, Greenwich, Conn., that would have resulted in the appointment of
Robert G. Burton as the firm's chairman and CEO. Burton is the chairman, CEO and
managing member of Burton Capital Management.

Printegra Acquires National Imprint
Corporation <http://www.printegra.com> Printegra
Corp., Peachtree City, Ga., announced that it has acquired <http://www.national-imprint.com/>
National Imprint Corporation (NIC), Deer Park, N.Y. NIC, a manufacturer of
envelopes and stationery products that sells through print distributors,
operates three manufacturing facilities in Pennsylvania, Illinois and South
Carolina. It has more than 150 employees and reported more than $20
million revenue in 2004. NIC will operate as a wholly owned division of
Printegra.
Trendex Acquires American Loose Leaf <http://www.trendex.com> Trendex Inc., St.
Paul, Minn., recently acquired <http://www.americanlooseleaf.com/>
American Loose Leaf, St. Louis, a privately held binder manufacturer. The
transaction was finalized June 1.
Trendex Vice President Tom Polacek said, "we manufacture many of the same
products American did, which gives us a better competitive position. The
acquisition also will benefit American's customers because Trendex can offer
them so much more variety of products and services, including custom printing
and packaging solutions."
Operations at American Loose Leaf's St. Louis plant will be discontinued by
the end of the summer, resulting in the layoff of 30 to 40 employees. Trendex
will handle American Loose Leaf's customers through its Denver and St. Paul
offices. It also will move manufacturing equipment from St. Louis to St.
Paul.
Craig Palubiak, Larry Stallings and a silent partner purchased American Loose
Leaf in April 2000 from Washington, D.C.-based U.S. Office Products, which had
acquired American Loose Leaf five years earlier. The competitive printing and
office services industry, however, led the owners to reduce their staff from 75
to about 30 or 40 employees.

Not Letting Chips Follow Where They May A June 22
story in the LA Times says: "It begins with a computer chip that can pick up and
transmit an electronic signal. When stuck to a new television or a car traveling
a FasTrak toll lane, it instantly transmits the TV's model or the driver's
identification. Businesses believe it will revolutionize the way items are
tracked from warehouse to checkout. Even the Department of Defense manages
supply lines with the technology. But should government use this radio-frequency
identification to track people, too?" <http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-privacy22jun22,0,695620.story?track=tottext>

SOLUTION OF THE WEEK
A One-Stop Shop for Efficiency, Services Imagine
collecting 1,000 scientific papers, distributing each one to four people to
review, collecting their feedback and then publishing the papers. <http://www.ags.com/> Automated Graphic Systems
Inc. (AGS) faces this challenge each year when it coordinates materials for one
of its biggest client's annual conference.
At the week-long conference, scientific authors from around the globe present
1,000 technical papers to more than 3,000 peers. Before joining forces with AGS
four years ago, the conference administrator coordinated the paper evaluations
and dissemination alone and manually—a tedious and cumbersome process. "The
author sent a physical disk and then four sets of hard copies of the paper,"
says Jason Byrnes, a sales representative at AGS, White Plains, Md. "And then
the hard copies would be mailed to the reviewers, and back to the author if
there were any changes. The process was very slow and difficult to coordinate.
The disks would come in different formats, so that was hard to standardize."
