<http://www.xerox.com> Xerox Introduces Carbonless Paper for Digital Color Printing
Xerox Corp has announced the industry's only carbonless paper designed for both digital color and black-and-white printing in office and production environments.  The company said in a press release that its new Xerox Premium Digital Carbonless paper makes it possible to quickly and economically add colorful logos and highlights to each sheet of an invoice, contract, receipt or claim form.  A patented capsule-control coating of tiny beads stays intact while the paper runs through digital printers in a clean, consistent manner. This produces high-quality documents and allows users to load and leave jobs running without machine contamination or service issues. When people fill out forms produced with carbonless paper, the pressure breaks the capsules to create a permanent image on each sheet. <http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/050120/205059_1.html> Full story.

Road Map to a Digital System of Health Records (New York Times)
Few dispute the need to move America's costly, fragmented health system from paper records and prescriptions into the computer age. Converting to digital records, health authorities agree, would reduce medical errors and improve efficiency, saving both lives and dollars. But what has been missing is a national road map that would encourage doctors, hospitals and insurers to invest in modern information technology. Yesterday, a group of 13 health and information technology organizations gave the Bush administration its recommendations for just such a road map for a national health information network. <http://www.nytimes.com/2005/01/19/technology/19health.html?th> Full story.

RFID Tag Market to Swell Tenfold by 2009
The worldwide RFID tag market will grow nearly tenfold from $300 million in 2004 to $2.8 billion in 2009, according to an In-Stat report. That would make RFID tags the most prevalent wireless technology since the cell phone, said Allen Nogee, lead analyst on the study entitled, "RFID Tags and Chips: Changing the World for Less Than the Price of a Cup of Coffee."  The report predicts the growth curve for RFID adoption will take a few years to sharply accelerate, given the relatively high cost of the technology, currently ranging from $0.15 to over $100 per tag. The key drivers of the projected growth will be shipping cartons and other supply chain elements, expected to account for 35.1 percent of the RFID market by 2009, up from the 4.9 percent of the market it comprised in 2004.

SOLUTION OF THE WEEK

Nice Check: Distributorship's Diligence Helps Bank

Wayne Gretsky and Wayne Kubek have something in common besides a shared first name. Hockey legend Gretsky once said he skates to where the puck will be rather than where it is. Kubek, chairman of <http://www.independentforms.com> Independent Forms Services Inc., is a master of anticipation, too. Kubek foresees customers' needs, often saving them money, time and hassles. A financial institution the Joliet, Ill., distributorship serves recently benefited from Kubek's proactive approach. <http://www.dmia.org/sol_center/enewsletter/enews_articles/sow012105.html> Full story.
