Ennis Inc., Midlothian, Texas, reported operating results for its second quarter ended Aug. 31, 2004. Net sales amounted to $73,374,000 compared to $65,003,000 for the same period last year, an increase of 12.9 percent. Net earnings for the quarter amounted to $5,370,000 or $.32 per diluted share, compared to $4,497,000, or $.27 per diluted share for the corresponding period last year, an increase of 19.4 percent. Per share earnings computations were based on 16,745,451 shares for the quarter compared to 16,609,275 diluted shares for the corresponding period last year.

Xeikon International, Lier, Belgium, has already achieved its target of 60 Xeikon 5000 press sales for this year. During the official launch of the Xeikon 5000 in February, Xeikon announced that it would sell at least 60 new presses before the end of the year. This target was achieved just seven months later. The Xeikon 5000 combines consistent and high-image quality for short print runs as well as for runs of several million copies plus unparalleled productivity, according to the company.

AB&C Group, McLean, Va., will handle email customer service and inbound call center for Junonia, St. Paul, Minn. Junonia manufactures clothing for American women who wear size 14 and larger. More than 50 percent of Junonia's customers place orders online and call or email the company if they have questions. AB&C will handle both emails and calls.

Avery Dennison Corp., Pasadena, Calif., said it closed its acquisition of woven label manufacturer Rinke Etiketten. Avery Dennison said it will fold the privately held German company into its retail information services business. In 2003, Rinke Etiketten had annual sales of $25 million.

Consolidated Graphics Inc., Houston, announced that negotiations regarding the previously announced letter of intent to acquire Newbridge Corporation, Dallas, have been terminated. The company said the proposed transaction had not been factored into its prior financial guidance and will have no impact on future financial results. It will continue to evaluate other acquisition opportunities.

Deluxe Corp., St. Paul, Minn., said it's offering $500 million in notes to partially pay off its short-term debt from a recent acquisition. Deluxe acquired competitor New England Business Service Inc. in June in a cash offer for more than 13 million shares at $44 each.

Staples Inc., Framingham, Mass., announced that Bank of America has awarded the company a 5-year, $275 million national office products contract. The win establishes Bank of America as one of the largest customers for Staples Contract Division, which serves medium-sized and Fortune 1000 companies.
