Buhrmann Sells Paper Unit To Australia's PaperlinX
Australian paper maker PaperlinX agreed to buy the paper merchant arm of Dutch group Buhrmann for 746 million euros, sending Buhrmann shares up as much as 55.7 percent. Buhrmann's ability to meet its 2004 financing requirements have worried investors and its share price has lost more than half its value during the past year, but analysts said the deal will ease those jitters. PaperlinX, Australia's biggest paper maker, said the takeover would make it the world's third-largest fine paper merchant.
