Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club
In May 2004, nine DMIA members who are regular attendees of the CEO Summit met to discuss the program options for the 2005 CEO Summit. It was clear that management issues were of prime importance. It was also clear that any presenter that is hired must understand our complex industry.
You asked for it and now you've got it...
Six Sigma
 |
Presented by: Cliff Bregstone, CFC
President, CBI Corporation |
 |
Six Sigma is the newest management practice being implemented in corporations today. The Six Sigma process, once implemented, eliminates virtually all the internal mistakes that can be made by any of your employees plus it eliminates mistakes that can be made in dealings with your customers and dealings with your distribution partners. The fundamental objective of Six Sigma is the implementation of a measurement-based strategy for reducing mistakes to 3.4 per one million opportunities. The net result of implementing the Six Sigma process in your organization is a reduction of your overhead costs by 30% and increase in sales of 15%.
The Six Sigma process can only be taught by certified Six Sigma instructors. If an instructor were retained directly from the Six Sigma organization, we would not know what we were getting. Luckily, we have a DMIA member who is Six Sigma certified. Cliff Bregstone, CFC, President of CBI Corporation, has been in our industry for over 35 years and has implemented the Six Sigma process in his own company. Cliff speaks the "DMIA member language." Cliff's company, because of Six Sigma, has realized substantial cost sales increases. Through a series of presentations and workshops, Cliff will show us how to implement the same Six Sigma process in our companies.
The Economy
 |
Presented by: James K. Meek - CIMA
First Vice President - Investments, Legg Mason |
The DMIA members who met in May also said that they wanted an executive update on the future of the U.S. and World economy and how investments will fair over the coming year. James Meek, CIMA, is one of the premier economists with the investment firm of Legg Mason. Jim speaks internationally about the economy's health and its future. Attendance at this discussion and Q&A session is even more important during our post-Presidential year.
Roundtable Discussions
One of the greatest values of the CEO Summit is the interaction among the attendees. There will be ample time to network during the two days. Additionally, there will be structured Roundtable Discussion sessions that will be moderated by an industry expert. This is the time for all attendees to ask questions and get answers.
