CDC Rules, Regulations and Tips

Once a candidate signs up for the exam, an acknowledgment from the CDC Program will be mailed. The acknowledgment will include the following:

  • The Web address where the exam resides
  • A Username
  • A Password

Don't log on until you are ready to take the exam. Complete the six modules whenever you choose.

All use of all passwords and/or usernames is monitored by DMIA.

A timer starts ticking once you log in. The timer stops when the connection is stopped or when you log off. You have four hours to complete the exam.

You must score a total of 190 to pass the exam (one point for each question). How you add the score up to 190 is entirely up to you. If you take the exam, and then feel that you did poorly on one or two sections, then you can take those sections over again. The cost to repeat a section is $50 per section.

When a candidate postpones or logs out, the exam knows exactly where he/she left off. Upon the next login, the candidate will be directed to the next question that was left unanswered.

If your connection is terminated for whatever reason, the system will know exactly where you left off and will send you back to that point when you log back in.

You cannot go back through the exam and change answers once a question has been submitted.

Activity on the site is monitored via reporting to DMIA each time questions are accessed and a log-in occurs.

The CDC exam is protected by Copyright. Printing or copying of the exam is prohibited. If a candidate is found to be copying or printing the exam, their CDC credentials will be revoked.

The person signed up to take the exam must be the person that actually sits for the exam. Any misrepresentation of a candidate's identity will result in revocation of CDC status.

Some helpful tips:

  1. Use a robust and fast Internet connection. Do not use a connection that you know to be weak.
  2. Refrain from using the exam site when you know that Internet traffic volume is high and think that you may encounter slow Internet response.
  3. The site is compatible with the latest versions of Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.
  4. If you have any questions or problems, please call the CDC program headquarters at (703) 836-6232.
